It was frustrating but understandable when delays at Boston Whaler gobbled up an extra month of my summer. When my build date finally came, they got me all excited by promising that it would arrive in three weeks. Those three weeks have now passed, and the boat still hasn’t left the factory. It was a bit of a sucker punch. Although it’s probably not their fault (the market is crazy now), I definitely fault them for lack of communication. There’s no word as to what the cause of the delay is or when it might end, there’s just silence. I do know that Boston Whaler acquired an old Sea Ray factory and is ramping up production at a second facility. That likely is only adding to the chaos in the short term.
I’m officially writing off this boating season, and will plan to use the vacation I saved for something else while the weather is still decent. To make things even stranger, today I got notified that Dell abruptly canceled my order for the computer I wanted to replace my eight-year old one. They gave no explanation other than that “there was a problem with the order”. The monitor has already arrived, so obviously they know how to reach me. Our economy is a shambles now. It’s like Soviet Russia – no amount of money can buy manufactured goods in any reasonable amount of time. I first ordered the boat in February. At least I can still buy toilet paper at the moment.
