Mishaps at the Port of Everett

Another day of Whaler life. I’m starting to think that I just wasn’t meant to catch fish. Today we carefully prepared the boat, bait, fishing rods, etc. and headed out to the north end of Hat Island, where we hoped to try again for flounder. However, when we got there we quickly realized that we had left the bag with our tackle back in the car. Since we can’t catch fish without hooks, we switched to Plan B and decided to just have a fun day on the water. We drove in a circle around Hat Island on the return, headed back into the channel, and explored the Snohomish River a bit. My girlfriend hadn’t done that before. We got back just as it was starting to rain and the seas were picking up a bit.

These poor guys in a sailboat had a bad day. They ran their boat aground right in front of the 10th Street Boat Launch, and a good two hours before low tide. They had a long wait for higher tide. At least they got to watch the sunbathing harbor seals on the dock next to them.
