Crabbing Help From Our New Pot Puller

I just got the boat back after being in the shop for a few days. The dealer said the squeaky noise is coming from the gearbox. They replaced the gear oil early with high performance oil (they would normally wait to replace it until closer to the first 100 hours), and asked me to run it for the next five hours. If the sound goes away great, otherwise they may have to put in a new gearbox. They said It didn’t have an unusual amount of metal in the old oil though, and that it’s safe to use. It’s now summer crabbing season, so I hope I don’t have any problems out in the Sound. I bought boat towing insurance, and will bring the kicker motor. While it’s in the shop I asked them to put in a second battery for the new pot puller.

We put the pot puller through its paces today. Although it was my first time coming home from crabbing empty handed, it was such a fun day to be on the water! What a joy it was to finally drive my boat in a tee shirt and not feel cold at all. Although I’ve had a number of issues with my boat so far, I’m really happy with the new pot puller setup (you can see it mounted on the bow rail). My girlfriend looked so happy – but who wouldn’t be happy riding a Boston Whaler on a warm summer day? Here we are after rounding the jetty and heading out toward Hat Island.
