The boat got out in the sun yesterday. I took it to the shop in Seattle to have a special type of auxiliary motor mount installed. This is so that I can put my old transom-mounted trolling motor on, and in the future I could install a gas or electric “kicker” motor. The trolling motor is fast enough for lake fish like kokanee, but not for saltwater fish like salmon. The “kicker” could be used for trolling for salmon, and also as an emergency backup if the main engine ever fails. These small motors keep the hours off of the main engine, are quieter and use a lot less gas. I took the opportunity to wash the dirty decks while I had it out of the garage.
I just got photos back from the shop showing my new folding motor bracket. It looks really beefy. It allows the kicker/trolling motor to be lifted completely out of the water. I’ll pick up the boat on Friday.
